LME – London Metal Exchange (aluminium rate)

The London Metal Exchange (LME) is one of the world’s most important commodity exchanges, where the official exchange quotations of precious and industrial metals – including aluminium, copper, zinc and nickel – are made. The aluminium price appearing here (LME Aluminium Cash) is one of the most important reference values in global metal trading.

Trading hours
  • LMEselect (electronic platform): 01:00 – 19:00 (London time) / 02:00 – 20:00 (Central European time)
  • Ring trading (open outcry): 11:40 – 17:00 (London time)

The official Closing Price is established during electronic trading, in a defined closing-price window, typically in the afternoon hours. This value is the official LME rate of the day.

What does the LME rate mean?

The LME aluminium price is given per troy ounce, but in industry it is used converted to tonnes.
Conversion factor: 1 tonne = 32,150.7 troy ounces.
The EUR/t value shown on the page is calculated from the official daily closing price per troy ounce.

Facts of interest
  • The LME was founded in 1877, so it looks back on more than 140 years of history.
  • The three-month (3M) forward rate is used by the industry as a global standard.
  • LME rates influence more than 80% of the world’s aluminium market.
HUF / EUR exchange rate
HUF / EUR – MNB middle rate

The HUF / EUR exchange rate shown on the website is based on the official middle rate of the MNB – Magyar Nemzeti Bank (National Bank of Hungary). This rate shows the officially published daily relationship of the forint and the euro, and serves as a reference value for financial and industrial calculations.

Update and availability
  • The MNB publishes the rates for the given day on working days at around 11:00–11:15.
  • Our system then automatically retrieves the current EUR/HUF middle rate.
  • At weekends and on public holidays the last available rate remains in force.
What does the middle rate mean?

The middle rate is the average of the foreign-exchange bid and offer rates. It is not a bank trading price, but an official reference value calculated by the MNB on the basis of market movements between the euro area and the forint.

Facts of interest
  • The MNB has been setting official foreign-exchange rates in Hungary since 1946.
  • In addition to the euro, the middle rate is published daily for more than 30 currencies.
